Mapping – how does it work?

    Hello!

    New to making homepages and new to WordPress, I am therefor an absolute newb and the following question will be newbie-ish too.

    So, I have bought my homepage and everything, I built that which I could muster on WordPress, and then I “mapped” the two together. I have gotten a confirmation to my email saying it’ll be in effect on the 11th of April.

    If this is the case, then that’s great, but I don’t understand how the two can be linked? How does WordPress know I own the rights to that address?

    I apologize in advance if I’m not making sense or if I’m breaking any forum rules.

    How does WordPress know I own the rights to that address?

    It doesn’t (and does not need to). If you do not have access to the DNS for the domain then you have no way of directing traffic for the domain to your WP install.
