    Hi Joe! I love your plugin and I use it from 2 years. Only today I had a problem: I create a new marker called “indizio” and automatically all the others markers disappeared, being substituted by “indizio”! It’s quite a problem because they also changed in all my maps! What do you think is the problem? I can “come back” or I need to re-create everything again? Thanks

    Hi @irenebadone,

    I am very sorry to hear you are having issues. My guess would be that your Settings got corrupted somehow. The easiest solution would be to roll-back if you have a backup.

    If you do not, but have access to your WordPress database then you can try restore the Settings manually (always backup first!).

    Waymark (should) keep a backup of the Settings when updating to a new version. You can check for these in your database with the following MySQL query (you may need to change the “wp_” prefix for your database if not using the default):

    SELECT *
FROM wp_options
WHERE option_name LIKE '%Waymark_Settings%'

    If you see something listed like Waymark_Settings_0.9.17.1 with data that looks like a:8:{s:5:"tiles";a:1:{s:6:"... then it would appear you have a backup!

    Copying this data from Waymark_Settings_0.9.17.1 into the Waymark_Settings *should* restore these Settings.

    Just so you know, deleting the Settings should not affect which Types you have specified in any Maps. When you re-create the Types (either using the database, or manually in Settings) if you use exactly the same Title then the Maps should show the Types correctly.

    Thank you very much Joe! Very hard for me to find out the way, because I didn’t even know what database was, but I finally I’m in!
    At the top, the option name is Waymark_Settings_ and no option value.
    Then I have 6 more lines and the last one is Waymark_Settings_0.9.17, which have a:6:{s:5:”tiles”;a:1:{s:6:”layers”;a: … in “option value”.
    So this is the latest backup and I need to copy it in the first row?
    Sorry, I’m really bad with this…

    Sorry! I still have problems! Now I regained all my data, doing the way you said.
    But the same problem: going on markers on the plugin settings, if i try to add a new one, then all the others become the same!
    I tried to charge older versions of the plugin but the same problem…
    I just updated wordpress, blocksy theme, elementor and all the others plugins. Tryed to open and close the site, but still the problem: I can’t modify the markers.
    Did you maybe found out incompatibility with some plugins?
    Is there any possibility that I let you enter in my site to check?

    Weird. Something is corrupting your Settings, but things like this can be difficult to diagnose. I would like to try to figure it out though, it could be because of a conflict as you say.

    Have you tried this multiple times? Does it only happen when adding a new Marker Type, or does it happen when saving the Settings even with no changes? If it is only when adding a new Marker, please can you provide the data you are inputting for this new Marker (any “special” characters like Ć®%*”Ć©.’/ etc?).

    If possible, could you provide me with the option_value for these rows in your database:

    • “Waymark_Settings_0.9.17”
    • “Waymark_Settings” (exactly this, not “Waymark_Settings_“)

    I am trying to compare how the data is changing “before” (i.e. from the backup) and after the problem. The “live” Settings are stored in “Waymark_Settings”.

    No, if I save with no changes, no problem.
    I tryed several times, but always not possible even to modify the existing markers and when I add a new one, all the others become like it… My new marker would be all simple:

    Hi @irenebadone,

    Yes the Settings are corrupted, though I am not exactly sure why. Unfortunately it is tricky to fix :-/

    Are there any other Settings backups in your database that you could try, from previous versions (like Waymark_Settings_0.9.16) for example? If so I would recommend trying copying those into Waymark_Settings.

    Otherwise it might be a case of re-creating them from scratch (sorry!). In which case you would want to delete the contents of Waymark_Settings (i.e. leave it blank in the database) and then go to the Settings page and create your Types etc.

    If you create your Types with the exactly the same Titles, then the Types in the Maps *should* re-connect with the new Types you have created. I hope that makes sense.

    Yessss apparently now is working properly!
    I copied the backup of Waymark_Settings_0.9.16 and now is working!
    I had tryed the same yesterday but not working… maybe it was a problem with my computer…
