When I added and set up the WPConsent cookie pop-up on my employer’s website, in WPConsent’s Settings > Cookie Categories section, I could put in what our marketing cookies are used for… but when I look at the area where a user can set cookie preferences, the notice about marketing cookies isn’t there. Users just see Essential and Statistics cookies, as well as a link to our cookie policy page.

However, because I have cookies be disabled until a user gives consent, the site’s Google Maps inlay area (sorry about lack of technical terms, I understand them but can’t always think of them in the moment) shows as a little box in the left side of the site with a button that says “Click here to accept Marketing cookies and load this content.” I want users to be able to understand what marketing cookies do on our site, but I can’t figure out how to make it so that they can.

The page I need help with: [log in to see the link]

    Hi @valancy0818,

Thank you for reaching out, and I’m sorry you ran into that issue.

The Marketing cookies section does not show up if no specific cookies are added to that category under the Cookies tab.

Can you please add the page where you have the Youtube embed to the list of pages scanned in the Scanner and then run another scan? That should allow you to automatically configure the Youtube cookies under Marketing and then the cookies will show up correctly in the category.

That makes sense, but the YT embed pages are posts on the blog, and now I can’t figure out how to get them to be scanned. When I scan the blog page, no new cookies come up… but I can’t scan individual blog entry pages. What am I missing now?

    Hi @valancy0818,

The search on the Scanner page will also allow you to choose individual post. Only 1 post with a YT embed is needed and searching by the title of one of those posts should allow you to select it for the scan.

Can you please check if that works on your end?

    Thanks

Whenever I try to add any specific website in the scanner, it tells me “No Results Found.” This is either with the direct link to the post where users can see it, or to the page where I could edit it. An example page is Holy Eucharist, Fifth Sunday in Lent – All Saints Episcopal Church. I can’t get that to come up for me to add to the scan list.

    Hi @valancy0818,

Can you please check if you are using the latest version of WPConsent? We issued an improvement to the scanner search in the latest version 1.0.10

Please also try by searching for the post title, writing the first part of the title should show it in the list of results

I only acquired WPConsent a few days ago and immediately set it to automatic updates. But I did search the blog posts by post title, and that worked.

I still don’t know how to get the Google Maps cookies to be included in site preferences, but YouTube now works.

Thank you for the update @valancy0818

If you want the Google Maps to be included, you can try adding a page where Google Maps is used in the scanner or add the info for Google Maps manually from the Cookies menu in the WPConsent Settings.
