Looking at my server using either htop or GCP observer I have two processes that use a full CPU core as well as almost 2GB of RAM and they will run what appears to be indefinitely (12-18+ hours at a time before I just kill the process). I’ve limited php.ini to only 120 seconds for execution but this doesn’t appear to be a php script. any insights on how to wrangle this in would be very much appreciated

Hi @kevinmonumetric , I’m afraid the files you are referring to are not part of Site Kit despite being found in the plugin’s directory on your server. You can see the all files included in the plugin in the current release in those paths here:
- https://plugins.svn.ww.wp.xz.cn/google-site-kit/tags/1.165.0/third-party/phpseclib/phpseclib/phpseclib/Math/BigInteger/ (no upload_file)
- https://plugins.svn.ww.wp.xz.cn/google-site-kit/tags/1.165.0/third-party/phpseclib/phpseclib/phpseclib/Crypt/Common/ (no ldi_table)
I would recommend contacting your host to assess the situation as it sounds like your WordPress installation could be compromised. If you’re a developer, you could also check for these kinds of extra or modified files across core and all plugins using the wp-cli commands below:

@aaemnnosttv that was a huge help and I very much appreciate it. Using the cli-commands I think I was able to track down the issue.
