    Hello,

since I installed Matomo Analytics in November, it hasn’t been working: I don’t see any visitors.
That’s why I had also installed Matomo Connect so that I could see my visitors on the website. However, I prefer to have them displayed in WordPress.
Here are a screenshot and the system report. I hope you can help me.
(I only have Adobe Acrobat as a Chrome extension, but it was deactivated. So it shouldn’t have caused any problems).

    Best regards, Katrin

Hi @fod85, it looks like you are using both Matomo for WordPress and Matomo Cloud? Note that Matomo for WordPress does not connect to your Cloud account and display statistics from there, it is the entire Matomo product embedded into WordPress.

Currently there is no way to connect to an external Matomo (like Matomo Cloud) and display statistics inside Matomo (though it is something we want to add).

I suspect you want to use Matomo Cloud. If so, you’ll want to uninstall Matomo for WordPress. For now you’ll only be able to see statistics in your Matomo Cloud instance.

Hi, I actually want to use Matomo in WordPress, but since it didn’t work, I downloaded Connect (because I didn’t understand exactly what it was …)
The trial period for Connect has expired, so I can uninstall it. However, Matomo still doesn’t work. Can you please help me?

@fod85 I can see that the cloud tracking code is gone now. I also see that tracking requests are getting a 403 Not Authorized response, which means your web server configuration is blocking requests to the Matomo for WordPress tracker.

We have a FAQ for some common causes of this problem, along with their solutions here: https://matomo.org/faq/wordpress/403-error-matomo-for-wordpress-plugin/

If you can’t find what you’re looking for there, you will need to ask your hosting provider for how to fix this. You will need to ask them how to make this URL accessible: https://vom-traum-zum-haus.de/wp-content/plugins/matomo/app/matomo.php

Hi @fod85 was your hosting provider able to help you?

    Thread Starter fod85

    (@fod85)

Hi, unfortunately no, I received the following answer from support: “Briefly explained; the plugin wants to execute php scripts that do not belong to WordPress. This is prohibited in this hosting package because it generally causes unwanted load.”
I objected, but they more or less told me that I couldn’t run Matomo and should switch.

Thanks for getting back to me.

@fod85 I see. Are you still interested in using Matomo? We have an open ticket to get around the need to execute scripts from within Matomo for WordPress, however it hasn’t yet been prioritized since we assumed hosting providers could provide exceptions. (We were not aware some hosting providers would decide not to allow this.)

    (@fod85)

Yes, I would like to use Matomo. If you can find a way that even beginners like me can implement, I would be delighted.

@fod85 we’ll have to make some changes to the plugin. I’ll try to add them this week, though if it turns out to be harder than it looks to get it to work, it might not be available for some time. Once it’s released you would just need to enable a new setting. If I can add it in the next release, I’ll inform you here.

Thank you so much!! Thats awesome.

    Good luck though 🙂
