A question about the functionality as it relates to political campaigns.

Is there a way to raise the maximum amount of donations/giving levels? In our state, we can accept up to $2500 for a general election or primary, and additional amounts for runoffs. In statewide races, the limits are higher.

There’s a great comedic opening here for a rant on Citizens United, but the short answer is you could write a PHP hook that would do this. However, I’ll also add it to my list of feature ideas. It’s a good one.

I’d like to hire someone to do this. Any suggestions for someone who could help me or are you available?

Well, it’s on my list for upcoming enhancements. But I have talked to some firms who offer support, one of which is https://sitedoctor911.com/. I know they’ve done some work for other Seamless Donations users.

Are you looking to block excess donations on a donation-by-donation basis, or aggregate across all donations from a given donor?

Sorry, I wasn’t clear – for the longer term, both blocking excess donations on a per-transaction and aggregating, but really neither is time-sensitive. That’s more to give the compliance people the ability to sleep at night without worrying.

My more immediate need is to allow $2500 donations on a specific client’s site. I like seamless-donations and want to keep all my clients on it, but one in particular is hot to get the ability to get $2500 donations as an option. It’s worth it to me to pay someone to help with that one specific task just to make the client happy.

Well, to set a 2500 donation is specifically is easy enough. Just follow the directions on the https://youtu.be/IA7z5Dwo28Y video. It’ll take you 40 minutes to watch the video and about 10 minutes to write the code (the code is demonstrated, so you don’t need to be a programmer) if you follow the directions. Just drop in a 2500 element.

I would rather have just paid someone else $100 to make it work. Because I don’t interact with video very well, it’s going to take me three hours to watch a 40-minute video and walk away with any understanding.

What for you might be a ten minute no-big-deal will be a 4-hour debacle and migraine headache for me.

Heh, on a Monday morning everything’s a migraine headache.
