mcrypt missing php7.2+

we are able to register new users even with the error below but inquiring about the error? Plugin and all users have not used TFA plugin prior to php 7.2

This is an error we are getting from a page we created for registering new users that uses the shortcode [twofactor_user_settings] and error only triggers when clicking reset private key not landing on the page.

TFA decryption failure: was your site migrated to a server without mcrypt? You may need to install mcrypt, or disable TFA, in order to successfully decrypt data that was previously encrypted with mcrypt., referer:

Since mcrypt is deprecated as of 7.2 wpengine will not allow or engage as the encryption libraries are a few years old and not been updated?
