changing the Large image size works, but it is always the default (i think) image size that is offered in the drop-down menu when inserting a Large image (474xn, where ‘n’ could be any height)

i use the Simple Image Sizes plugin to regenerate the sizes and it works fine

example: set Large size to 800×0 (800w x unlimited height) and regenerate all images for the Large size – the images are generated fine and the actual size is, in fact, 800xn (‘n’ being whatever the new height is) – but then when i add an image to a post/page using the Add Media button, the Large size in the menu is always 474xn

the actual image being inserted into the post/page is the correct size (800xn), but it is resized in the image tag to display as 474xn

update: i just checked the db_options setting for large_size_w and it is 800, as it should be, so apparently that isn’t the problem

also, if i disable the Simple Image Sizes and re-save the Large size, or change it and save it, the problem is not resolved and the Large size in the media insert drop-down is still 474xn

i also noticed my /uploads/thumb-cache/ is empty

    here is an example image…

the image is 1280w but, as stated above, if i insert the Large thumbnail into a post, the menu item for Large is 474w, not 800w as it should be – the 800w image exists and is inserted into the post, but the img tag resizes it to 474w
