Media Library and Multi Language

I have a site in two languages, English and Norwegian, and use Polylang to support this.
If I upload an image in a post in one of the languages it will only be available in media library to posts in that language, and I have to upload a copy for the other language. This seems odd and a waste of discs space.
Is there a way to avoid this?
