• I’m having an issue with the Mega Menu. I’ve been using it for years along with the Pro version, but I believe the problem is general and not specifically caused by the Pro version – or it may just be triggered by it.

    WordPress Version: 6.8.1
    PHP: 8.2.6
    max_execution_time: 120
    memory_limit: 512M

    Database:

    • Server Version: 5.7.25
    • Extension: mysqli

    Server:

    • Software: Apache

    My problem is that as soon as I activate the Mega Menu, the website becomes very slow and frequently returns a 503 Service Unavailable error. After that, I can’t do anything – the site doesn’t reload. I then rename the index.php file via FTP to regain access to the backend. Once I deactivate the plugin, everything works normally again. But when I reactivate the plugin, I get the 503 error again and a very long page load time.

    Does anyone have any tips on what I can do? I actually really like the plugin and would prefer not to stop using it.

    Currently, the plugin is deactivated so that the website remains accessible at all.

    Please can you check your latest server error logs and paste back the last few entries? You may need to ask your host for them.

    Hi Tom,

    I’m taking care of it.
    I’ve reactivated the plugin and enabled the error log on the web host. It will run for 48 hours. After that, I’ll get back to you and make a note of the day and time when issues occurred so we can cross-check with the error log.

    One more note: I’ve activated the plugin, and the site is running a bit sluggish again — the difference is noticeable right away. However, no 503 errors have occurred within the first hour, which is already a step forward 😊

    The site is loading quickly for me at the moment. I see you have MMM Pro installed, please get in touch through https://www.megamenu.com/support/ – I have some suggestions you could make to optimise things (although I don’t think they will fix the underlying issue – for that I would need to see the logs).
