I want to make a couple of our main menu items, just for our Society members only.
I created the main menu item (CADFHS Member Project)
I have made visibility password protected and set the main menu item as a parent.
I have created some more pages to be sub menus to above.
I have set these pages with visibility password protected and page attribute set to (Child) to above Parent. (CADFHS Member Project).
I have added to menu and the sub items are in place. However when I test the menu items all are open. I have saved everything each time of course.
Can you tell what I have not done yet and need to do to make it work please?

The page I need help with: [log in to see the link]

You may want to consider a plugin 🙂

Thank you for your suggestion however we don’t need it for membership!

It is so that we can share information / pages in a password protected area. menu with We want to keep secure and only members will be able to view once they have signed in.

Can it be assigned to a User Access Area?
Suggestions please. I am using Astra and Elementor

Membership plugins generally allow for members-only areas.
At least one of the plugins on the first page of the search results looks like it is primarily intended to restrict user access without being a fully-fledged “membership” plugin.
Here are some more alternatives: https://ww.wp.xz.cn/plugins/search/restrict+content/

Thank you for this and we do have two plugins installed and activated. But cannot seem to get them to work as I am not sure how to use them or find support to help me to use them.
I have recently, with in the past week I would say managed to get a simple form of protection to a new menu item which is a member project. I have been working to get this to work as I don’t want to mess about with what is a very large Member only Area, which I took down as members were able to access even admin. I now know that we could have blocked them getting into the admin area by use the 404 error code. But too late to rescue like that now.

    The installed plugins are:
    Login Logout Menu
    Deactivate
Login Logout Menu is a handy plugin which allows you to add login, logout, register and profile menu items in your selected menu.

    and
    Login or Logout Menu Item
    Deactivate
Adds a new Menu item which dynamically changes from login to logout depending on the current users logged in status.
