Memory error on plugin activation (filecheck?)

I am getting the memory error on activation of the plugin that others report. I suppose this is the filecheck error, so I tried to go into wp_options to turn off the bwps_filecheck option but it is not even entered in there at the point of failure.

Is there is some way to edit the code to deactivate this at startup?
