Menu bar spacing between pages

Hi all,

How do I space out the menu bar links/pages/blocks? Basically just want to use all the space instead of having my menu centered. Site is: http://writingonitall.com/.

Also, if there is a way to remove the black bar from the top of the site, let me know.
