Menu border / shading

    I’ve created a custom menu. The background is white, the text is black, and when you hover over a menu selection it turns grey as it should.

    What I’m hoping to do though, is to have each selection in the menu have a border so people can tell there’s the option to select the text.

    Best case scenario, I’d like to increase the text size of the custom menu, as well as change the font.

    Where can I find this in the code, I’ve looked in stylesheet, header, etc. I can’t seem to find it.

    |Home| |About| |Join| Kind of like that, but just something better than black text on a white background.

    Are you familiar with CSS?

    Do you have a section of the dashboard named, “Custom CSS”, “Edit CSS” or “Custom CSS Manager”?

    Can you link your site?

    Haha I’m familiar with CSS, as in I can tell how to figure out things on my own. Example, I was able to center text, create new text, move things around, but not write from scratch.

    I do know how to follow instructions though.

    And is there a way to just send you the site without global?

    I made those changes in style.css and (template-home.php)

    I wasn’t even able to find where the custom menu was though… I saw where the style.css called for it to activate, but it’s not in the “editor” menu on the sidebar.

    It’s hard for me to draw attention to a site where people already know what they are doing haha

    You’ll lose your CSS modifications when the theme updates because they were made to the theme’s files.

    When a theme updates it replaces all of its files even if only one change was made to one file. See the Discover theme’s revision repository. As you can see each version contains all of the theme’s files.

    So, on an update the theme will literally overwrite all the original files with new ones.

    Install this Custom CSS Manager plugin and use its section of the dashboard to hold your CSS modifications.

    That means creating new styles that override old styles. If you’re not familiar with CSS that you cannot create new styles, you can just copy the old style and paste it into your Custom CSS Manager section. Then change the values of it there.

    So, in other words, I could copy paste the current changes I’ve made into a custom css file, which will overwrite the current code, and when the update takes place… so long as communication between the codes remain, it’ll work find. Gotcha…

    I’ll do that.

    Any idea on the shading? border? etc?

    For menu css look in css folder look for superfish.css file. You will have to FTP it.

    To preseve changes, best way is to create a child theme. http://codex.ww.wp.xz.cn/Child_Themes
