Menu item

I have a Menu question this should be easy. First off I am very new to wordpress. I have a friend that I am creating a website for. He wants the menu to be like this.

Home Products Contact Us ShoppingCart.

How do I get that extra space between Contact us and Shopping Cart. He wants shopping Cart all the way to the right of the menu bar.

I have a Child theme template created so I can make CSS changes.

Also, does anyone have a good suggestion on a book for creating your own themes. I want to start creating some of my own. I bought Word press themes 2.8 but it seems to be a very hard read. The author leaves way to much code out and jumps around to much.
