menu link a puzzle

Hi
This is a real puzzle! Created a custom menu with one of the links diary-dates which was to have a calendar on it. In the meantime I used the plugin “The Events Calendar” to create a calendar which it put on a page it named events. Deleted diary-dates page and added events page in its place. When i click on eventsd it opens the now non-existent diary-dates page. Deleted entire menu and redid it and the same thing happens. How can there be a link to a non-exixtent page. Used a search and replace program to search all php files for diary-dates and it was nowhere to be found.

Any ideas appreciated!
