• I am fairly new to WordPress and am trying to create a menu that links to individual static pages. I initially created a working menu but then a colleague renamed some page titles and it broke every link in the menu. Now, when I try to add items to the Main Menu or even a new menu, 1) there is nothing there to choose from on the pages listing 2) when I try to search for pages nothing comes up 4) every tutorial I look at indicates that I should be able to “view all” and I see no place to do so, and 4) if I add new pages with the same name it simply creates a duplicate page.

Also, I want to have a static home page. I have changed the theme a couple of times to try to find one that works for me and now my initial home page is no longer the “home” page. There is another page with posts that is first. How do I make sure that my home page on the menu matches my homw (ie, index) page?

Is there any documentation that accurately explains how the menu works? Color me confused.

The page I need help with: [log in to see the link]

  • Hello, shannonsgt, & welcome. I’m sorry this is proving difficult for you. WordPress can have a bit of a learning curve sometimes.

Please go to ‘Settings > reading’ on your dashboard & choose the page you wish to be your home page. Don’t forget to save your changes, or you’ll be upset w/yourself.

If you made a menu & then changed your theme, it may well be the old menu won’t work. Here are some instructions from the Theme Foundry site.

    What plugis are you running?
