Thanks for the awesome plugin, have used it for nearly a year to retrieve posts from an IMAP mailbox. Today I noticed messages were present but were not being posted. Running Postie manually, I get the following output:

    Checking for mail manually
    Starting mail fetch
    Postie is in /home/sfbayca/public_html/home/wp-content/plugins/postie/
    Cron: On
    Alternate Cron: Off
    iconv: installed
    imap: installed
    mbstring: installed
There are 42 messages to process
Error: Could not update post in the database

The “Error:” line repeats for each of the 42 messages. I searched and couldn’t find a similar problem, forgive me if this issue has been addressed previously.

Thank you for your help and let me know if I can provide any additional information. Many thanks!

This is a WordPress error. It means that WordPress received an error when trying to update a post.

Can you manually update a post? I.e. through the editor.

Hi Wayne, thank you, yes, I can manually create and edit posts without a problem. I have also checked disk space on the server to make sure there is room to write the update.

Also, I am getting tmptitle posts created with tmpPost content in my trash. I believe those are Postie placeholders correct?

Postie does create the tmptitle posts, but doesn’t put them in the trash.

Have you tried turning off all your other plugins just to see if Postie works with nothing else enabled?

Getting the exact same error. Everything was working fine until I manually deleted a post from postie, then I started getting the error.

Postie doesn’t have posts. WordPress has posts. Postie is just another way to get posts into WordPress.

When you say “manually” what does that mean? Did you go into the database to delete it or use the “Move to Trash” link?

    Sorry, move to trash.
