    Hello,
how can I create a metabox with CMB2 that is displayed on the WordPress dashboard only? I want to create a custom field which can be used to steer some content in the footer which is displayed on every page…

    Any help is appreciated. Thanks!

I don’t believe CMB2 is set up to create dashboard widgets at the moment, but it sounds like this would make a pretty simple settings page, which it can be used for.

CMB2 is a flexible tool and it can definitely be used to save/display/update settings in a dashboard widget, but does not do it ‘out of the box’. I suggest you look into using the cmb2_metabox_form function in the callback for wp_add_dashboard_widget, but for further implementation ideas, you may want to open a question on wordpress.stackexchange.com.
