    Hey guys, I have a problem that’s been killing me these past few days. It’s basically that I can’t add meta description to my website.

    Here is the link to it : Dopeyy.com
    I have installed Yoast SEO and when I put it in titles and metas, it just doesn’t show on the website. Also, I have – before Dopeyy on my browser. Can anyone help me fix this solution, I have checked my header.php file, but I just can’t find what’s causing this problem. Thanks!

    It could be an issue with your chosen commercial theme. Can you replicate the problem using the default Twenty Twelve theme with all other plugins deactivated?

    Yeah, well, I’d rather not because without the theme, the website wouldn’t have any sense. I don’t think that’s really the problem. Is there any way to change php or anything like that? I can’t be the only one with this problem. Thanks.

    Where do you want it to show up on the web site? Meta descriptions used to be for search engines, but most of them ignore it nowadays.

    If I “view source” i see your description is:

    Dopeyy music let's you share and listen to the latest songs and sounds from all over the world. Music for everyone!

    Is that the one you put in? If not, I guess there’s a problem with Yoast SEO but in any case the description doesn’t serve much of a purpose.

    If you want to control the little sentence that comes up when you post the link on Facebook, use

    <meta property="og:description" content="description goes here" />

    It doesn’t show when you search it on Google. You can type in Dopeyy music and you will see what I’m talking about. It just shows a mess under a name (recent posts and such), not that description. Thanks for the effort guys I really appreciate it!

    Google may or may not use your meta description on the SERP (search engine results page). Here is more info about it:

    Also, even if Google does decide to use it, it may take a while for them to re-crawl your site and post the new info.
