Meta outside element

Is there a way for SEO Ultimate to inject the meta tags instead the <head> element? When we try to share a blog post on another site we expect the meta content to populate through (e.g. on Linkedin it will grab the og:description and og:title for the post excerpt) it grabs some default content, usually the last visible content on the page.
Is this default behavior for SEO Ultimate and is there a way to get the meta tags to live in the <head> element?
