    Hi.

I’ve got a science blog, QuirkyScience. It installed the Metaslider plugin. The catch is, Google Webmaster has given me 2 warnings that it isn’t measuring up. Under sitemaps it says:

When we tested a sample of the URLs from your Sitemap, we found that some URLs were not accessible to Googlebot due to an HTTP status error. All accessible URLs will still be submitted.

I don’t know how to fix this.

Can you assist me? And, no, I am not an IT person and I am not overly gifted in web-related matters, though I am by no means a stooge.

    Thanks,
    Vince Summers

Are you using the Jet Pack module to do your site map?

I do have Jet Pack. I have to admit I don’t know if I am using it in that capacity. Should I be? If so, what can I do to institute what you suggest? I do have a friend who visits my site who is an IT person. She can adjust it, if that would improve matters…

    Thanks,
    Vince

    Hello Vince:

I am assuming your website it quirkysciece.com based on your message. When I look at the robot.txt on the site , it has many instances of Disallow: /. This statement will prevent Googlebot from crawling URLs on the site. I believe the error message you posted is coming from an incorrectly worded robots.txt file. Please see this page for more information on robots.txt.

    Hope that helps.

In the dashboard, plugins then jetpack. Click on configure and you can scroll to see all the services. Click on site map to activate it.

    Thanks for helping out.
