is there anyway to move the meta slider at the very top (getting rid of the logo space) and the navigation menu bar right underneath?

Hi JPCaro

You can try the following child theme out:

http://siteorigin.com/wp-content/uploads/2014/11/vantage-child-slider-before-menu.zip

It moves the slider up the page. Download the ZIP and install from Appearance > Themes > Add New: Upload Theme. Test it out, if it works then you’ll need to redo Customizer, Menu and Widget location settings.
