meta title obligatory ?

    Greeting,

    am working on a front end website, and I was wondering if the meta name”title” is still required for the SEO ? may i just focus on <title> ?

    I saw that twentyseventeen wp theme and last yoast plugin do not include it, so, just wondering.

    meta name title is not required anymore by the largest search engines, they are both semantically correct but the <title> tag is the recommended way.

    The <title> tag is what we recommend that you use and prioritize as it is the valid HTML markup. The <meta name=”title”> tag is just metadata content, and different crawlers will use or not use that information as they see fit.
