• Photonic includes numerous lightbox options which is awesome! Even that i still managed to find a lightbox plugin outside of Photonic options.

I am using Lightbox with PhotoSwipe By Arno Welzel, mainly cause of the metadata options you can display with your photos when using this lightbox plugin.

#1 When I use photonic app with WordPress as gallery source, the PhotoSwipe plugin is able to display all the metadata – including exif data, file name, caption, description (when it is available).
#2 When I use Flickr as gallery source – camera exif data and file name is displayed, but in Flickr there is also a field called “Description”. This one isn’t displayed even when all the metadata option are picked in Photoswipe plugin settings and description field filled in Flickr.

I am pretty sure there is a reason for that and that is not a bug. My question is if that is something that can be “fixed” or improved?

    Thanks for taking your time.

Verify what you have picked in your Photonic settings for the caption – Photonic lets you pick the title or the description.

If your Photonic setting is set to pick the description and you are still not seeing it, this would be a question for the author of the lightbox plugin.

Photos in WP galleries have a defined structure that other lightbox scripts can use, but galleries from other sources like Flickr have a different defined standard.

Photonic takes the different sources and generates markup to a common standard. That is why the markup that Photonic generates has all the requisite attributes (it has the alt attribute on an image and the title attribute on a link – for Flickr, these have the description), so any lightbox should be able to pull this information.
