• meteor slide version is 1.3.3

4 slides loaded into meteor. each slide is displaying fine. however after 30-45 seconds of viewing, my cpu usage increases (and no, i’m not doing anything else). changing window focus to anything else (another window, another browser tab) will cause usage to drop.

this seems like a caching problem?

  • That’s interesting Donna, how does this compare to the CPU usage of visiting a page like this?

it takes a little longer, but yes the same thing happens.

Then this must be a problem with the jQuery Cycle plugin. I’m guessing that the CPU usage might vary depending on the transition used and the size and quantity of slides.

One thing that might help is using a minimized version of the jQuery Cycle script, you could try that. I’ll make sure to switch to that version for the next release.

slide size is 270(h) by 1000(w). there are only four slides.

do you have an anticipated release date for your next version?

fwiw, i just added ‘Use Google Libraries’ and it seems to have helped.

it takes longer now for cpu usage to increase — very similar to the jquery link you provided above. so it does seem to have something to do with jquery.min.js.

btw — thanks for 1) your plugin and 2) your help in this issue.

I should be releasing an update for Meteor Slides sometime in the next month.

great! i’ll be watching for it!

Cool, I’ll keep an eye on CPU usage in the future and see what else I can do to improve performance.
