Migrate WordPress site from localhost to server

    I’m about to migrate a WordPress site from localhost to server and I’m thinking of this plugin: Duplicator.

    I have created the files thats needs to be imported through:
    http://www.mysite.com/installer.php

    On the server, could this be done “from scratch” in an empty folder?
    Or do I need an existing WordPress intallation that can be done from within the control panel of my hosting?
