    Hello,

    1) I have a couple followers I would like to migrate to my site from wordpress.com. Usually, this poses no problem, and I know how to do this. However, when I click the button to start the migration, nothing happens, and it doesn’t work. I hope you can help me.

    2) Another problem I’m having is with the share buttons. I would like to use the official site buttons, but when I do, the Facebook button doesn’t show up with the others. If I use the text, text with icon, or icon, it is there. I’m hoping to use the official buttons, though, because the FB button shows how many shares there are.

Thank you so much for your time, I really appreciate it.

    Hi there!

What is the site from which you want to move the followers? I can help with that.

As for the Facebook button, are you using any extension in your browser, for example, Facebook Container from Firefox? If so, this would be the reason. If you deactivate the extension you should see the button without problems.

Thank you so much for your response.

I would like to move them from booomcha.wordpress.com to booomcha.com please. Are you able to tell me why the button isn’t working? I usually do this on my own.

With the FB button, I am not using any extensions like that, and I cannot see the button when I look at my site from different browsers.

Thank you again so much. 🙂 I really appreciate your time.

I have already migrated your followers. Not sure why you were not able to do it yourself. If this happens again, let us know and we will investigate some more.

As for the Facebook official button. You can try to enable it and try to disable all plugins, and switch to the default Twenty Twenty theme. If the problem goes away, enable them one by one to identify the source of the problem.

To make this easier, you can install Health Check. On the troubleshooting tab, you can click the button to disable all plugins and change the theme for you, while you’re still logged in, without affecting normal visitors to your site.

Let me know how that goes.

    Thank you for your response.

I installed Health Check, followed your instructions, and checked my site on 2 different browsers. The Facebook button still does not appear.

Thank you for your help. I look forward to your response.

Do they work if you use a default WordPress theme like Twenty Seventeen?

Yes, it shows up when I switch to the Twenty Seventeen theme using the theme switch plugin. Does this mean my theme is preventing it from showing up?

    Thank you, btw.

I need to migrate a follower again, and the migrate button still isn’t working.

I have transferred your followers as requested.

To prevent folks from following the old site, I recommend making it Private: https://wordpress.com/support/settings/privacy-settings/

Thank you for migrating my followers for me. Any word on when the button will be fixed?

The old site is what comes up in the reader’s search when people look for me, so that’s why I haven’t made it private. I made it private before and people complained they had difficulty following me, so I don’t know what to do other than to migrate my followers.

If there is a better way to have people find me, that advice would be much appreciated. Meanwhile, it’s important to have a migration button that works so I don’t have to bother anyone at Jetpack about it. I’ve never had trouble with the migration button before and I’ve been using it for years.

Thank you again for your help. I really do appreciate it.

    Hi there,

Any word on when the button will be fixed?

As you can see from the screenshot below the buttons are displayed correctly on my end. Can you please grab a screenshot of what you’re seeing? You can use a tool like https://snipboard.io/

As for your old site, you can make a post notifying your readers that your address has changed. So if they find your old site in the Reader they know how to get to your new one.

Thank you for your response. I was asking, though, when the migration button will be fixed. It has not been working for several days, and so far, no one has answered this question. It is necessary for my site, and it does not work anymore. If you look through the forum, I am not the only one having an issue with this.

    migrationbutton

What I was referring to above, in my previous response, was in answer to the suggestion that I make my wordpress.com site private to I won’t have anyone following me over there which would negate the need to migrate. I was explaining how i show up in the Reader when people try to follow me from there.

All I’ve asked for from the beginning of this thread is to have a migration button that works, please.

Thank you so much for your time, and your help as well. I do appreciate it.

At the moment, I don’t see a reason for it to not work.

It is rate-limited though, you can’t use it several times a day for example.

If you aren’t using it more than once a day, perhaps it could be browser-related.

First, please make sure that your browser is up to date: https://browsehappy.com/

If it is not, please try updating your browser or switching to a different browser.

If it is, please do these two things:

    1. Try clearing your browser’s cache and cookies.

    2. Try with all browser extensions or add-ons temporarily disabled.

Please let us know how each step goes for you, and which browser (and version of) you’re using if you’re still having trouble.

Hi, thank you for your reply. I followed your instructions; here are the details:

    1. Chrome – up to date, extensions/add-ons off, cleared cache & cookies
    2. Microsoft Edge – – up to date, extensions/add-ons off, cleared cache & cookies

    to no avail.

I did not know there was a rate-limit, and have used it more than once per day before. Normally, I’d say I use it at least once per day, often less. It’s really frustrating that it isn’t working but perhaps that is the issue. But it hasn’t been working now since my first message here nearly 6 days ago. So, I really don’t know.

Any other information or suggestions would be much appreciated. Thank you kindly.

Ok, I recommend waiting at least 24 hours, then see if it works after that.

Thank you! It’s working now. 🙂
