Sorry we can not suggest a hosting vendor here. But as far as migrating the site from one host to another, any backup/restore plugin will do it for you. I use AkeebaBackupWP and have never had an issue.
I also use GoDaddy for all my hosting needs and have never had a problem.
Thanks, will look up that plugin.
Truth is that I’m having a couple of strange problems with my godaddy hosting and their site support has been neither particularly responsive nor helpful:
1) The site at random sends me email updates that “site is down” and then back up again at least once a week. Which I don’t know if it’s normal.
2) The theme that I’m using, it won’t allow me to use some features it has for reasons I can’t get answers to – my friend is using exactly the same theme on his WP hosted site and all the features work for him, and I’m including little features like options on how to display images in a post where I get 2 of the most basic and he gets several.
Either I’ve screwed up somewhere or there’s a clash here that my limited knowledge cannot discern.
hence my dilemma and need for help.
As far as the site being down, That may be for WordPress updates or plugin updates if you have automatic updates turned on.
As for theme issues. Every theme has a support page as well. Check with your theme developers for information on activating features.
1) Nope, no automatic updates – all plugins and WP itself I manually update after notifications come in that they’re available/pending.
2) Will look into your suggestion about reaching out to the theme developers. Should have thought of that myself and feel a tad foolish. Thanks.
