The Ontario Genealogical Society is considering migrating from its current hosting company to Cloudways. We have done a trial migration they provided and it didn’t seem to handle WPDA stuff very well. They migrated and created the new site with a different WordPress database name. I checked WPDA Tables and none of the schema names had been changed.

Does anyone have experience with migrating to Cloudways? I’d value your input.

    Thanks

    Hi @charlesgodwin,

Have you tried the script we have for migrated sites here: https://wpdataaccess.com/docs/data-explorer-problems-and-solutions/transfer-to-other-wordpress-database/

Let us know how it goes. 🙏

    This looks great. Thanks.

There’s a “small” gotcha but I think its OK.

Our site is a multisite with about 35 subsites so I think we would need to do this for each subsite WPDA tables. yes/no?

We also keep a lot of our data in separate databases to protect our WordPress database from unexpected errors. So I think we would need to do this for each of these databases as well. yes/no?

I think it’s not difficult with your scripts but it will be a long script. But much better that UI changes.

    Hi @charlesgodwin,

You’re welcome! Yes, you’d have to do this for every separate database per site. Rather than a long script, you’d have multiple scripts to run per site with their respective values (db names, table prefixes, etc).

Let us know if you have other questions. 😊

Thanks. I’ll let you know when/if we migrate.
