  • Here are instructions for moving your site right from WordPress:

You may also consider a plugin such as Duplicator.

    Hope this helps.

    Hi,

    Thanks for the response efuller.

The problem is that I’ve already seen that page and still can’t pinpoint why my websites are not loading. May be I am slow but I don’t think I’ve missed out on anything from that page.

Also, my old hosting account has expired so I can’t really use a plugin like Duplicator. As I’m sure you can tell, I am new to this and its a learning experience for me.

If you could tell me where to look to fix these problems, that would be kind of you.

Nothing wrong at all with ‘being new’!

Do you have backups of your websites from your old hosting account? If you don’t, then you may need to contact them to see if they have an archive they could provide you.

This is certainly the first step to this process!

I have the full backup of that hosting account including root backup, sql backup, and email backup. Here’s what I have done.

    *uploaded the zip through ftp
*created subdomains and mysql accounts with user and passwords.
*copied files of transferred domains to the relevant subdomain folders.
    *connected sql databases to users.
*made changes to wp_config. (not sure how successful I was with this).

    The problems.
*one domain – thewordsmanship.com asks me to install WP completely when I open it.
    *2nd domain – islblog.com shows database error.

I have a feeling I am messing up with some file editing somewhere. The gut feeling could be because of the lunch I ate though. Thanks for the help in advance.

I think you are on the right track. It looks like you may need to confirm the settings in each wp-config.php file.

Make sure you are connecting to the intended DB with the correct username and password.

You did import your SQL backups into the newly created databases?

You might also consider opening a support ticket with Namecheap as well. I’m sure they could help you get things sorted.

You are right. I do need to make changes to the wp-config file. I tried to follow the namecheap guide but it only provides so much info. I think this is the case of case by case.

I also have a feeling the linkages aren’t right yet. However, that’s also the area where I don’t want to experiment too much because I don’t want my newest website to get affected. It has only just broken through to top 10 pages and is on its way up by the second now.

I will open a ticket with Namecheap and let’s see if they can help me. Meanwhile, I’ll keep this thread open just in case there’re some more inputs. Thanks for your help efuller.

This doesn’t appear to be a multisite issue, as you’re talking about multiple sites in separate folders, so I’ve moved it out.
