Minimum purchase coming from nowhere

    Hi there,

    I’m running tests orders on my site before launching but I’m getting an error about a minimun purchase restriction. I have checked all my configuration and talked to support from my payment gateway but they claim it’s not from them.

    There are no plugins installed related to purchase restrictions and I also checked my functions file and found nothing. I tried changing themes and disabling all plugins except Woocommerce and the payment gateway.

    Where could this be coming from?

    I’d appreaciate any help.

    Hey @lamayas,

    Can you share the site’s System Status Report in this thread so I can take a look? Issues like this are usually related to the two things you mentioned- either a plugin/code that sets the minimum purchase amount -or- a minimum charge amount set by the payment gateway (usually needing any charge to be at least $1.00).

    It would also be helpful if you can let us know what type of product you are testing with (simple, variable, subscription, etc), where you are seeing the error message (on the cart, checkout, logs, etc), and either copy the exact text of the error message or take a screenshot and share that here.

    Hi Shaun, thanks for the quick reply.

    I just noticed that the message is only appearing for VIRTUAL products, if I disable the virtual checkbox it lets me place the order.

    This is the message I see at checkout: “The minimum order total allowed is $50 when using this payment method.”, but it won’t show unless it’s a virtual product.

    Thanks so much for sending over that Site Status Report, @lamayas!

    After looking at your site status and reviewing the details of your testing, I think the most likely culprit here is your Wompi payment integration plugin.

    However, you mentioned that you’ve already spoken with your payment provider and they said this restriction isn’t coming from them.

    I think the next best step will be to confirm with a few final tests that this restriction is definitely coming from the payment gateway – either from the provider, or from the plugin itself. I noticed that your site is still under construction, so hopefully it won’t be too hard to do this test.

    Could you please try the following?

    1. Enable a default payment gateway such as BACS, Cash on Delivery, or Cheque
    2. Disable Wompi Plugin para WooCommerce
    3. Try your test checkout with the alternate payment option
    4. Re-enable Wompi and try again to check out with whichever alternate payment method you are using for testing
    5. Finally, check out with Wompi

    This should let you know for sure whether Wompi is creating this restriction, and whether it’s creating it for all payment methods on your site, or only for purchases made with Wompi.

    Hi Jess,

    I ran all the tests and here’s what I discovered:

    -I can check out with any amount when Wompi is disabled
    -The message will appear with any payment option if Wompi is enabled but only for orders below $1.50

    For the purpose of testing I was making a purchase of $1, so it turns out the restriction is coming from Wompi but it’s very low. The number read like $150 instead of $1.50 and it was appearing when I choose Cash on Delivery also so that’s what confused me.
