• Hello,

I realize there are several topics on this but nothing has helped to date. Running WP Simple theme.

“(xxx) has failed to upload due to an error
    Missing a temporary folder.”

Hosted site (BlackSun), re-installed WordPress and copied a backup. The WP, plug-ins, and theme version were the same as before the re-install. I am unsure if this issue occurred before or after this but I did not notice until after.

Things I have tried without success:

    – created “tmp” folder on the root directory

    – created “tmp” folder on the wp-content directory (not sure of my rationale there)

    – changed permissions to 777 on root directory through FTP

    – deleted useless logs from tmp files that were taking up space (yes I’m sure this is all I deleted)

    – had the host modify php.ini per this post http://www.abluelink.com/2009/01/04/fixing-missing-a-temporary-folder-error– on-wordpress-27-uploader/

    – had the host’s “PHP expert” whatever that means log into my wordpress and the server and try some things, they did not tell me what.

    – de-activated plug-ins and theme one by one to determine if there is a conflict after they told me to do so. They keep trying to suggest this is the problem, when I am quite sure it isn’t.

    Help 🙁

An update to the situation. Since the host won’t allow me to edit php.ini myself (I can only view it), I asked them to look into the path and reerenced to several several threads on this topic. They edited it, but it still looked like a messed up path. They then responded to me that this was outdated troubleshooting and not relevant to this issue. I doubt that. Now the php.ini file does not exist at all as I believe they deleted it. They insist it’s a permissions issue, but changing either and both the temp folder and the uploads folder to to 777 results in no change. Temporarily changing the wp-content folder throws a 500 error.
