• Hello,

For some reason I am unable to upload any media as it gives me the ‘Missing a temporary folder.’ message.
I have been browsing these forums and google prior to making this post but the solutions provided did not solve my problem.

All wordpress content is located in 1 folder, I’ve tried making the ‘tmp’ folder there as well as in the root, giving the folders ‘777’ permissions.

The only thing I myself have not tried yet is contacting the hosting, because I’d like to try fix it without having to contact them 😛

I’m using FileZilla to access the FTP btw.

Hopefully someone can help me asap 🙂

    Regards,
    Luniticz

  • Luniticz.,

    Is only for media files?

Can you try to add one plugin then we can find its upload issue or not!!

    Hi,

I think it may be a permission issue, check the permission for uploads folder, may be it will solve your issue.

Earlier today I couldn’t install plugins through WP, had to download them and move them to the FTP manually, also updating kept going forever.

To my surprise the error to uploading media has changed into: The uploaded file could not be moved to wp-content/uploads/2015/10.

When trying to install a plugin I get this error: Unable to locate WordPress Content directory (wp-content).

My guess would be that it’s because the WP folders aren’t in the root of the FTP.

I just checked the permission of that particular folder, it’s on 775, tried putting it on 777 but I get this error:
Status: Set permissions of ‘/wp-content/uploads/2015/10’ to ‘777’
    Command: SITE CHMOD 777 10
Response: 550 CHMOD 777 10: Operation not permitted

How to fix this? Contact hosting?

    Edit:

Seems like I solved it, for some reason the FTP has 2 addresses (don’t ask me) on 1 I cannot change the permissions but on the other I can.

Do not use 777 as permissions please.

If you have issues installing a plugin, talk to your host to get it fixed.
