as usual, when debug is necessary, it’s advisable to deactivate all plugins except Posts in Sidebar, activate one of the WordPress default theme, and test if the error persists. Usually the problem goes away, so reactivating the things one by one and testing the page after each activation, should tell you where is the problem.
Also, tell me how you generate the related posts list.

Hello! I figured this out – I had the show excerpt option on and it was generating that error when there was no content to show. 🙂 I do have another question – I have custom posts pulling in from custom taxonomy of single post assigned tags showing up here – https://www.dropbox.com/s/73ksjwzwygpz4wa/Screenshot%202017-06-26%2014.58.09.png?dl=0
I assumed that it pulls from all current post tags if left blank, is that correct? Because this seems to be working by pulling posts from any of the tags assigned to a single post and displaying. Except, there are some posts that have no tags, and yet those pages are getting pulled sometimes as well. Please let me know if I should start another topic for this one and if you could provide insight on this. Thank you!

I figured this out – I had the show excerpt option on and it was generating that error when there was no content to show.
If you activate the option to show the excerpt and the posts has not any text (for example, a post with a title only), the plugin does not show any text, but the title only.

That option “Get posts from taxonomy using custom field” has been added for a particular request of a user of the plugin, and should be used if you have this need. The job performed by the option is explained here. In order to use this option you have to use a custom field where the value is the category/tag slug you want to use. Then choose the type of the taxonomy. If you do not use these two fields (“Get posts with this custom field key” and “Type of the taxonomy”), the option “Get posts from taxonomy using custom field” will be simply ignored.

I see! Is there a simpler way to get posts from current tag instead of category? Unfortunately we have approximately 75 pages each with their own unique combination of tags and were hoping to auto-pull from the already assigned tags of other pages instead of entering additional data.
As you know, a post can be published under multiple tags. Which tag the plugin should choose? For this reason this option has been added.
In a future release a new option will be added to get posts from the current tag, i.e. an option similar to “Get posts from current category”. But, in this case, the user cannot choose the tag.

I want to inform you that I just added a new option in Posts in Sidebar to get posts from the current tag.
Since the post can be tagged with multiple tags, which will be the tag that PiS will choose? The user will have the choice between the tag with the lowest initial letter and the tag with the lowest ID. A behavior similar to that one for categories.
The release will be made in the next few days, after some tests.
