In the older version you were given a character counter as you typed. In the new version you have no idea how many characters you have left until the text turns red. Also the text does not turn red if you copy and paste a meta description that is too long. It is only when you make and edit, save, or keystroke that it will let you know your description is too long by turning the text red.
Meaning, if I copy a snippet from my post entry above and paste it, I won’t know if it’s too long until I make an edit in the meta field. Additionally I won’t know how much I need to trim in order to make it fit until the text stops being red. I find this very frustrating when compared to the older version.
Don’t get me wrong I love the new look and the red text but I think the character counter needs to come back. And the character count needs to be verified on copy and paste not just on keypress.
I realize this is a free tool and am far from complaining. I love the tool and recommend it to everyone I know. I love the tool regardless of this flaw but it would be that much more awesome if this was addressed. Either way, love the tool and keep up the good work.
