    I see I’m not the first to be having problems with 2FA buttons not showing in profile for users with a custom role.

    I have just one custom role, managed by PublishPress Capabilities, and it’s applied to a couple of users. One has configured 2FA access, the other is showing a ‘required but not configured’, and that user has no button showing in their profile. The expiration for having to setup 2FA is long passed, but they are able to login anyway.

    Any suggestions?

    I am sorry to read about your issues. Can you please answer the below questions to help us better understand your setup so that we can troubleshoot the issue?

    1) What policies have you configured?

    2) Are you enforcing 2FA on this particular custom role?

    3) Have you enforced 2FA on this custom role and later reverted the policy?

    To answer what I can:

    1. Not sure what you mean here. If you mean plugin settings, then All Methods, All Users, 10 day Grace period.

    2. Yes

    3. Quite possibly, yes. All part of trying to get it to work!

    Still have ‘Required but not configured’ on this user despite being long past the Grace Period.

    If you have sent us an email, by now we should have gotten back to you. Please make sure you have link to / mention this thread in your email.

    In the meantime, I’ve done some tests myself and I can confirm that on a WordPress vanilla install with our plugin and PublishPress Capabilities, all work as expected. We have run some tests with custom roles, different policies etc.
