Hello,
Instead of creating “Iluustrator” as custom meta, create it as a custom taxonomy instead, like you did with “Format” and “Audience”.
Settings > Taxonomies
So when I go into Settings and go to the Taxonomies tab, Illustrator is included in the Taxonomy Selection box. When I scroll further down, all the settings for Illustrator are the same as they are for Author. Is that the place I should be looking?
If you’re seeing “Illustrator” under the “Taxonomies” settings page then you should have an “Illustrators” taxonomy input box that is similar to the one for “Authors” on the review edit page.
Yes, I have an Illustrator box like the Author box on the review edit page. It autofills if I list an illustrator I’ve used on another review.
I noticed that there’s another, separate Illustrator field at the bottom of the review, where I enter the synopsis, ISBN, affiliate link, etc.
I tried unchecking the box in the Recencio admin menu Components tab to show the book’s illustrator for reviews. All that did was hide the field completely at the bottom of the review edit page and in the displayed review.
I don’t have that many books with illustrators yet so I tried removing the Illustrator taxonomy and changing it to Illustrated By. I thought having a component named Illustrator at the bottom of the edit page and a taxonomy named Illustrator might be causing interference. That didn’t help either.
The illustrator can either be custom metadata (inside the “General Information” section or a custom taxonomy (it’s own box in the sidebar). The plugin defaults to treating it as metadata. Metadata does not have its own archive page; custom taxonomies have their own archive page.
Since you want a archive page for “Illustrators” you can ignore the one inside “General Information” and use the one inside its own input box.
If I leave the one in General Information empty, the illustrator field doesn’t display in the review at all, even though I’ve filled in the Illustrator taxonomy.
I double-checked and the illustrator box in the Components tab is checked.
Make sure “Illustrator” is the list under the “Book Detail Items” section of the “Templates” settings page. It may need to be listed twice to get the right one.
Yes! That was the problem! Thank you so much for your patience and help!
