Missing links/bookmarks

    This probably sounds trivial to most of you, but it’s got me foxed!
    My Dashboard menu does not have a Links item, and I do not have a Bookmarks widget to display them.
    What am I doing wrong?

    What role is the user that you’re logged in as?
    Have you tried disabling all plugins?
    Have you tried switching themes?

    I’m logged in as admin.
    Surely something as basic as links would not be affected by other plugins? or themes?
