Missing og:image
-
Facebook scrape is providing “missing og:image” even though it is set in 3 places. I deactivated all plugins so its not a conflict issue.
– featured image set in wordpress
– facebook image replacement in yoast
– wordpress page default image when no image is presentNot just 1 post, has now happened with 2 new posts consecutively.

Wordpress backend says it is already 7.5.1. Would a manual update still be beneficial? Should I downgrade to 7.4 as freschstudio suggested?
Hey Nicole,
Here are the steps that worked for me:
1. Deactivate Yoast plugin.
2. Delete the Yoast plugin completely. Don’t worry, your SEO settings will be saved.
3. Go here and under previous versions download version 7.4 (not 7.4.1 or later, it must be 7.4. as the bug is still present in later versions).
4. Install it either via WordPress or manually via FTP.
5. Activate it. 🙂I am having the same issue and am updated to 7.5.1.
I have followed all the steps recommended here and on the general list including plugin conflict check.
Yoast SEO is sending the default image for all posts and ignoring featured image and in- post Yoast Facebook setting.
See example here: http://wesmoss.staging.wpengine.com/news/inevitable-death-taxes-ready/
Any more ideas?
Thanks, I’ll give that a shot. Not sure why we have to though as I found the list of updated bugs and it says it was fixed in the latest version but apparently not! 🙂
It looks like it is a different scenario for your case, as there is an og:image tag that is being outputted, but not the intended one. If you’ve already performed a conflict check and are unable to find any plugin conflicts or JS errors, your best next step would be to create a new issue for our developers at https://github.com/Yoast/wordpress-seo/issues/new.
We’re actively using the bug tracking on our GitHub repository so you will need an account to create a new issue. If this is your first bug report, please check out: https://kb.yoast.com/kb/how-to-write-a-good-bug-report/.
Since the og:image tag fails to output and you’ve already performed a conflict check, we also recommend that you log an issue for our developers — https://github.com/Yoast/wordpress-seo/issues/new.
Thanks @mikes41720
I reverted to v7.4 – Wrong value for og:image tag
I then reverted to v7.3 – ResolvedI will test the next update as there seem to be quite a few open tickets regarding this or similar og:image issues.
Well mine SHOWS an image too, but the debugger says missing og:image so I’m not sure what’s going on.
@nicoleamanda Could you please show us some example URLs where the issue remains occurring for you so that we can take a look at them?
Every new post lately. There are featured images AND Yoast images set in each of these but debugger says missing og:image

http://nicoleamanda.ca/blog/spring-blossom-britannia-engagementJust reverted to v7.4 – not sure how long it takes but still not working.
@nicoleamanda – v7.4 did not fix it for me. I had to revert to v7.3 to fix it.
Now I’m getting this?
Provided og:image, http://nicoleamanda.ca/wp-content/uploads/2018/05/Canadian-Tulip-Festival-Engagement-Photos_0006.jpg could not be downloaded. This can happen due to several different reasons such as your server using unsupported content-encoding. The crawler accepts deflate and gzip content encodings.
We looked at your one of the provided page and we see the image is appearing correctly as expected on Facebook. Please, refer to the screenshot from our end.
Yes but this is version 7.3. It would be nice if the newest update was corrected.
Can you please update the Yoast SEO to the latest version first so that we can investigate this issue further on our end?
