Hi, I ran a scan using Wordfence numerous times, and get this warning:

The Plugin “” needs an upgrade.
    Plugin Name:
    Current Plugin Version:
    New Plugin Version: 4.3.5
    Severity: Critical
    Status New
You need to upgrade “” to the newest version to ensure you have any security fixes the developer has released. Click here to update now.

    Problem is
    1) there is no plugin named
    2) When I click on update now, it says “You have the latest version of WordPress. Future security updates will be applied automatically.”

I’ve tried reinstalling wordpress, but the problem still persists. And I believe it has something to do with recent injections of malware on my site, despite placing 2 factor authentications.

    Could you help? 🙁

  • Try disabling all plugins, enable Wordfence and see if the same error persist.

Afterwards, try enabling all others 1 at a time and see if another plugin might be causing this.

I’m not sure if this is a Wordfence issue or if there really is a security issue on your site but doing the steps above might narrow down the possibilities.

We saw this once before. I believe churva is right about how to diagnose it, though I wonder if you have something weird going on. However, it may be something simple like someone doesn’t have the plugin name in the style.css file.

Hmm, ok I’ll try to do that! Will get back to you 🙂 Thanks Churva and Tim!

    P/s. Happy new year 🙂

Any update on this. I’m facing exactly the same issue. Could it be an issue related to the theme? The site in question uses Salient.

Unfortunately mine still has an issue, thgore. I use Salient too!

Y, pretty sure this has to do with the theme needing to be updated. Unfortunately for me, the sites that I have this issue with are hard to update because they have custom code (i.e. didn’t use a child theme.) I’m going to bite the bullet and update one of them. I’ll get back to see if this resolves the issue.

    Thanks Thgore!

(though I think it’s not about updating the theme because mine is the latest version.. hmmm)

So for sure you are on v5.0? That’s a bummer. Have to keep digging.

For sure thgore :/ And I’m also getting another un-disimissable alert to “upload active theme files now to ensure proper operation”.
