    Hello,

I am experiencing a weird error that happens at checkout, for customers with countries with a state field, like US and Canada.
    Here is the woocommerce error:
There was an error processing the payment: Missing required customer field: address-›state

I removed all my customization to the checkout page, removed my cache plugin, but the error is still there.
It happens ONLY when customer creates an account at checkout, a guest order does not trigger the error.
However, if I try to reproduce the error, I cannot – but I am not using the same payment method (bank transfer for testing purposes, my customers are using cc via stripe).

It happens on a website that is running smoothly for 10 years now, and suddenly, this happens (10 days ago), probably after a plugin update.

    Any ideas???

    Hi there,

The error you’re seeing occurs during the payment process and is specific to the Stripe/credit card checkout flow. Since it doesn’t happen with Bank Transfer, it’s not related to WooCommerce core itself.

I recommend reaching out directly to the support team for the Stripe payment gateway you’re using If you are using following plugin https://ww.wp.xz.cn/plugins/woocommerce-gateway-stripe/ you can create ticket with their support team here: https://ww.wp.xz.cn/support/plugin/woocommerce-gateway-stripe/ and sharing the error details and your system status report. They’ll be able to investigate why the state field isn’t being passed correctly to Stripe.

In the meantime, you could also check WooCommerce > Status > Logs for any Stripe-related errors to provide to their support team.
