Hi @alex586
I hope you are doing good today.
I could not replicate this issue on my lab site. Please note if Smush will check the image and see that compression will make image Kb/Mb more than the original it will simply skip that image from compression. Do you compress those images before you upload them into site, like you save those in Photoshop for example with 85% of compression or less?
Kind Regards,
Kris
I think I understand why, If I upload an image that is exactly the same size as the sizes I have set, then it is considered as “full image” and the pro version is needed to smush it.
Example:
Sparkling featured size : 750 width, no height.
– If I upload an image above 750px, it smushed to 750px.
– If I upload an image which is 750px exactly, isn’t smushed (because it’s considered as full image).
If I upload an image below 750px, other sizes smaller than sparkling featured are generated.
Am I right ?
Hi @alex586
I hope you are doing well.
It is correct, WordPress shouldn’t force a thumbnail for an image that is on the correct dimension, here is an example.
When I upload a big image it will create all versions:
https://monosnap.com/file/HzohvBbEnYUkVU9WgMg2mk87bgMn5V
But if I go smaller:
https://monosnap.com/file/5ZHYsYefHWS6LoNerClVUcE0htmnVg
Only smaller than the actual size will be generated.
When we upload on the correct size:

WordPress itself won’t generate the thumbnail for that size.
