Hi — My understanding is that in 1.5 there are supposed to be new tabs under the admin menu, including one for Plugins, but my page only has 4: Dashboard, Write, Manage, Users (plus Logout).

If I am reading correctly, I am missing Options, Manage, Plugins, and Presentation.

I suspect this has something to do with a botched upgrade. Without going into details of why the upgrade didn’t work, I ended up deleting all the 1.2 files off the server and installing 1.5.

The page is up, with the default Kubrick layout and pulling successfully from the database, but the admin section is lacking the above tabs/capabilities.

Any ideas of how to solve? Greatly appreciated as always.

Go to the Users tab and take a look at your “Level”. If it is anything other than 10, then you are account isn’t an admin account and won’t be able to see the other tabs.

So first thing, ensure you are indeed logging into your system using your admin account (just ‘admin’ in most cases).

If indeed your admin account has been demoted, you can go in through phpMyAdmin and promote it again.

    That did it — THANKS!

I keep forgetting that the main login is admin. I kept trying to log in under the display name listed under the admin user, and of course it didn’t recognize it — and the other user (also for me) I set up is only a 1; guess I should change that.

    Thanks again!

Yeah that caused me all sorts of grief initially because I had installed WP using Fantastico on my webhost and they create a regular username for you instead of Admin. When I installed it on my new webhost, they don’t do that and I ended up with ‘admin’ as the username and I’d never remember that. 🙂

So the fix is to just go into phpMyAdmin and change the username for your admin account from ‘admin’ to whatever you want. That’ll take care of it and you don’t have to two different users.
