Hi @ae3erdion,
Please enable the plugin Debug menu option as described in this FAQ entry. Then navigate to the Security->Debug menu option.
In the (first) section named System Info scroll down and lookup the value specified for “Features:” under the ### iThemes Security ### header.
Does it say:
Features: enable_encryption

Hi @ae3erdion, we aren’t aware of issues related to the Mobile App 2FA at the moment, but we received past reports about this error, and it’s usually resolved by setting up a new Mobile App secret key. Please try to set a new one using these steps and observe for a couple of days if the error persists
- Delete the old key from your Authenticator App
- Click the “Generate new secret” button in your WordPress User Profile > Two-Factor Authentication Options
- Scan the new code in your Authenticator App to register the new key
I look forward to your response.
I had the same issue and your advice worked for me, thank you Chandelierrr. The only thing you need to add to your advice is a way to access the site while the 2FA is not working. I used this to help me: https://help.ithemes.com/hc/en-us/articles/360021124173
Hi @man-with-a-view, you’re welcome, and thanks for letting me know. Awesome job on finding the article – I’ll keep this in mind!
To @ae3erdion, I hope the information provided helped resolve your issues. Since we haven’t received a response, I’ll mark this post resolved. If you still need some assistance, feel free to open a new support topic, and we’d be happy to assist. Thank you!
@shanedelierrr I had the same issue and your solution worked for me.
We’re having the same issue with iThemes Pro on one of our multisite installs (though not all). Generating a new secret doesn’t seem to be resolving it. Any suggestions for a solution would be great.
Just ran into this issue as well. Have to find a way to get logged in to do this. Any chance this problem is continuing to be looked into?
Hi @jeffscroggs,
As you can see this topic has been marked as “Resolved”. As per the forum guidelines FAQ it’s probably best to open a new topic.
To be able to access the WordPress Dashboard while having 2FA problems simply follow the instructions from the FAQ below:
