• Is there a way to configure the mobile viewport so that it displays a 2×2 grid layout?
For example, if there are six hero thumbnails representing different categories, the layout would show three rows of thumbnails. (See screenshot.)
Currently, the hero section only shows one image, and the concern is that less tech‑savvy or hurried visitors might click that single image, assuming it’s the only category available.

This is an update to my earlier question/request.

I’d like to feature only three static thumbnails in the homepage hero (not a carousel). What’s the best way to implement this without unpublishing the other portfolio pages? I want those pages to remain live, just hidden from the homepage.

For mobile, my preference is to show the same three thumbnails for consistency (either in a small grid or reduced‑size thumbnails). If that isn’t possible, what’s the recommended approach for keeping one selected thumbnail on the homepage while directing users to an all‑up portfolio splash page where they can choose the category they’re interested in?

    Hi plaidside,

I’m glad you reached out. I’d be happy to help.

From what I can see, you currently have the Portfolio Carousel and Latest Blog Posts widgets enabled under Appearance > Theme Options > Home Layout.

You can safely remove the Portfolio Carousel widget from that setting.

Removing the Portfolio Carousel from the homepage will not affect your existing Portfolio pages. Those pages and portfolio items will still remain accessible through your website links and navigation.

If you would like to display static thumbnails or custom content at the top of the page instead, I recommend using the Page Content widget.

You can then create and manage that content by editing the page currently assigned as your homepage under Settings > Reading.

Do you currently have the Kadence Blocks plugin enabled on your website? I highly recommend using Kadence Blocks to design the section with the 3 static thumbnails, as it gives you much more flexibility with layout, images, buttons, spacing, and responsive design settings.

Here’s an example showing how you can use different Kadence Blocks to build that section:

With Kadence Blocks, you can create a fully custom homepage section using rows, image blocks, advanced galleries, buttons, and text content while keeping everything easy to manage directly within the WordPress editor.

I hope this helps. Feel free to reach out for more help.

    Best regards,
    Teejay.

    Hi Teejay,

Thank you for that plugin option–great to know. As of now, I like the current carousel layout and decided to just slow the carousel speed, so it focuses on the top 3; however, is there a way to arrange the order of those images? I see in Theme Options, they can be arranged by date or menu order. Can you clarify where I’d update either one of these options? Is the date option based on the Portfolio published date? I see that when I use the latest published date, it doesn’t appear to show up in the far left side, which I would intuitively expect to happen.
