• Hello, I am pretty new at this. I have started my blog – [ redundant link removed ], and have selected a theme. Everything looks ok, except the mobile menu, if the website is open on mobile or tablet there is no menu. I have no clue what to do to make it work. I have read a few solutions but nothing works for me. If I install a plugin like ‘mobile menu’ then there are 2 hamburger menus – the one from the theme which shows nothing and the plugin one. Any suggestions? Thanks.

  • You shouldn’t need a plugin to get a menu on mobile.
Some themes allow you to designate a different menu for mobile by defining another menu location for it. Unfortunately, doing this means that the fallback isn’t defined nicely.
Look in the Appearance > Menus page under Menu Locations and see if there is a mobile menu location. If so, assign a menu to be displayed there. If not, you’ll need to ask at your theme’s support forum for what to do.
Your other option is to switch themes, which is no big deal. There are thousands of themes to choose from.

Hello and thanks a lot for the reply. No there is not a mobile menu location. The most common answer is that there is something with the theme and I did not wanted to change but I see that this might be the solution. Thank you

The menu has links OK but they’re hidden from view. There is supposed to be script that alters what’s hidden when one clicks/taps the hamburger icon. The script is working in part because the slide over animation is working, but it fails to alter the #menu-main-menu element’s display property. This is something the theme developer should fix on behalf of all of its users. If you fail to get a response from the theme developer then seriously consider using a different theme.

It looks like the developer of the theme is long gone. I have tried to connect but no result. I do like the theme and it perfectly fits my blog so I will look for another solution even if I have to pay to solve it. I am really curious why the theme was suggested by wordpress when I was creating the blog – again really new at this, but that theme was supported and suggested when I started the website. Thank both for the answers.
