• Hello,

First I need to let you know I’ve contacted GP support directly on this issue and was referred to WP support for a definitive answer. GP, thank you for giving me a temporary solution to my issue to keep me going while I await guidance from WP.

Here is the issue I’m having: (also what I submitted to WP main forum)

When editing in WordPress 6.6.1, the mobile and tablet view editor don’t load the post or page content when clicked. I’m currently only able to edit in desktop view. It IS working when I edit in the elements section, but not for posts or pages.

I’ve deactivated and reactivated my GP Premium key as well as reinstalled the latest version of WP.

Many thanks in advance for your time,
    Kerry

(Here are two screenshots showing that in mobile view, the editor won’t load, whereas regular desktop mode, it appears as normal.)

    My temp solution from GP:

“There’s no issues with the Theme or our GenerateBlocks.

But WP 6.6 made some changes to the editor that is causing some users issues.

The fault is the editor no longer has a minimum height , so if you have large meta boxes or lots of meta boxes below the editor ( e.g for SEO plugins, simple CSS , Custom fields etc ) those can interfere with the the editor height making the editor inaccessible especially in responsive views.

This requires those meta boxes to be collapsed or removed from the editor to get around this annoyance.”

So, I have toggled off those large meta boxes that appear and now I can see my mobile and tablet view editors. This is great, but now WP says it’s not their issue, it’s GP’s. So as you can see I’m going in circles now to get tot he root of the problem.

Yes, it’s not a big deal to toggle those boxes on and off but it’s a pain to have to keep doing it especially when I use the blocks I’ve had to toggle off when I’m editing.

Not sure where to go with this all now, but WP has sent me to this GP forum in hopes of finding the glitch.

Any help from anyone who has had the same issue, I’m all ears for solutions.

    Kerry

  • Hi there,

I think WP may have passed you off here as they thinks its a theme related issue. When the problem can be replicated with any theme.

For example install Twenty20 and a plugin that uses large metaxboxes such as Yoast and you will be able to see the issue that was referenced in GitHub in July this year:

    https://github.com/WordPress/gutenberg/issues/63708

And there seems to have been some commits made that fixes this in the Gutenberg Plugin , but we will have to wait for those improvements to make it to core.

Thank you David, I appreciate your speedy response. Just weird that this all started recently, never had any issues before. Oh well, will carry on and follow your link to troubleshoot.

    Many thanks

    Kerry

WordPress 6.6 changed how the editors height is set which resulted in the issue.

Looks like they have a fix in place, so hopefully that will be in a core update soon.

    Glad to be of help
