    Hi,
Many thanks in advance for any help or advice. I am a complete novice at wordpress and dont really know much about amending the code (or if I need to!)
My blog on desktop looks ok http://www.schoolinguniverse.com
but on mobile it looks completely different
    1. the menu bar is blue instead of pink
    2. the feature image is absent
    3. the font of the title and tag line are different
    4. and the worst – the text on the front page is displayed in both lower and upper case, but at random! i.e. some words are in lower case, some in upper and then the last word looks like that “GenevA”.

Would be grateful for any ideas as to how to harmonise the looks of desktop and mobile versions. Thank you!

  • Looks like you’ve inadvertently activated the Jetpack mobile theme.

If you head to your Jetpack Settings, find the Mobile Theme module and deactivate it from there.

The oddness in upper/lowercase comes from your original text, which you’ve typed using upper and lowercase letters. The mobile theme uses its own styling for headings, so you’re not seeing it with Sela’s all-caps h2 heading styles applied. If you switch your post editor to HTML/Text view you’ll see it:

    their CHILD in GenevA

Let me know how it goes.

    Dear Kathryn,

Thank you so much for your help. The blog does look normal on my phone now, which is a great news!

You are also right about the original text being in both upper and lower case. When I changed it to paragraph I could see it.

However, even after correcting it, when I post the link on Facebook, the text below the picture still looks the same. I have even tried to delete the text all together, update the page and type it again, but it still looks the same … “their CHILD in GenevA”

Does it just take time to update it or can I do something about it?
    Thank you very much

    Yulia

    Hi Yulia,

It does take Facebook some time to re-scrape URLs for new information after they have initially been shared.

The following tool, however, enables you to manually instruct Facebook to re-scrape a URL for new information straight away:

    https://developers.facebook.com/tools/debug/sharing

I entered your site into the above tool and am now seeing the correctly capitalised text in the preview. 🙂

Let us know if that helps out or if you have extra questions.

    Thanks!

Perfect! Feel free to start a new thread if anything else comes up.
