moderation message not displaying

The message that used to display on a webpage when a comment was going to moderation (letting the user know that’s where their comment went) no longer displays. Instead, the page now just reloads, so the user doesn’t know it’s gone to moderation and just thinks it’s been lost.

Interestingly, if you check yes for “Comment author must fill out name and e-mail” in the Setttings/Discussion area of WordPress, the moderation message does display as it’s supposed to. But if you uncheck that option, the moderation message stop displaying.
